Inland from Castiglione della Pescaia, between hills and valleys dominated by the mediterranean scrub, one of the most important medieval monasteries in Maremma is hidden, the Hermitage of San Guglielmo di Malavalle. The ancient building is bound to the medieval mystical-religious Saint Guglielmo, traditionally known as William of Aquitaine who lived in the 11th Century. The building still retains its original layout with the church and the functional environs for monastic life.
The trekking, in the company of an expert archaeologist and guide, will be full of nature and adventure animated by stories and legends related to the scared and the profane that have always characterized these lands and still echo today among the woods and the ruins.
