Private, exclusive tour of San Galgano, to experience alone, as a couple, or with family and friends.
A tour to discover the suggestive complex made up of the ruins of the great Abbey of San Galgano and the Hermitage of Montesiepi and to discover one of the most famous historical and religious characters of Medieval Tuscany.
We are speaking of the noble knight of Chiusdino, Galgano Guidotti, famous for having abandoned his dissolute life and for having transformed his instrument of death (the sword) into an instrument of peace and redemption. The evident echo of the myth of King Arthur (who drew his sword from the stone instead of having stuck it into the stone) did not fail to raise curiosity, increasing the interest in the Chiusdinese saint and for this enchanted place.
The Hermitage of Montesiepi, built between 1182 and 1185 (above the hut on the hill where San Galgano lived), houses the famous sword that he would have stuck in the rock as a symbol of renouncing a sinful life. It also houses some wonderful frescoes by Ambrogio Lorenzetti.
The meeting point with the guide is the parking lot of the cemetery. From here, our tour begins towards the suggestive Cistercian Abbey of San Galgano and then we will arrive along a short uphill path to the Hermitage of Montesiepi.
After a short transfer by car, the guided tour continues in the town of Chiusdino, where we will visit the birthplace of San Galgano and the museum dedicated to him.
The purchase of this ticket is valid for a private group of up to 10 people.
