Private, exclusive trekking to experience alone, as a couple, or with family and friends.
A multi-hour tour to discover the Spanish fortresses and to enjoy a breathtaking view of the coast and the tourist village of Porto Ercole.
The Argentario promontory from the 16th Century onwards was Spanish territory. In order to defend this small part of his dominion, King Philip II had avant-garde fortresses built in and around the town of Porto Ercole.
Our trekking will take you along a beautiful path of panoramic views to visit the Spanish Forts, incredible strongholds built sheer above the sea.
We will start from the Rocca Aldobrandesca (commonly called the Spanish Fortress) which wraps the inhabited center with its walls, forming an important defensive system around Porto Ercole.
We will continue to Forte Filippo, designed by the architect Giovanni Camerini shortly after the mid-Sixteenth Century, which is located just outside the village and represents the most fortified and interesting construction of the defensive complex of the Stato dei Presidi.
Finally, we will visit Forte Stella, an imposing fortified structure perched on a hill overlooking the sea. This fort was used primarily as a watchtower that communicated (through visible signs) with the other towers making the area impregnable.
While Forte Filippo hosts a private condominium not open to the public, Forte Stella can be visited and often hosts contemporary art exhibitions.
The purchase of this ticket is valid for a private group of up to 10 people.
