The beach can be reached on foot (5 minutes, less than 500 meters) through a pleasant path under the shade of pine trees, immersed in the scents of the Mediterranean scrub.
Punta Ala beach is famous for allowing peaceful bathing, immersed in an environment of great natural beauty that offers suggestive and poetic views. The beach’s sand is fine and golden, and gently slopes towards the sea. Behind the shade pines, there are oak and cork forests and other Mediterranean scrub, vegetation typical of the Maremma. The waters are calm and free of currents, clean and transparent.
Also famous for being the beach of an exclusive and famous port which served as the base of Luna Rossa, the Punta Ala beach will captivate for its breadth and bright colors, and for its welcoming, well-kept and refined spaces.
Surroundings
The seaside town of Castiglione della Pescaia is about 20 km away. In Castiglione, you will find the pharmacy, an herbalist’s shop, a seawater therapy center, the library, an open-air cinema theater and concert venue, gym, yoga center, ceramic workshop, various wifi points, post office, horse riding school, ferries for island excursions, a shopping center, restaurants, bars, nightlife and any other service. You can also find a sailing and kite surfing school.
The farmhouse is only 9km from the natural oasis of Diaccia Botrona, between water and land, a destination for excursions on foot, by mountain bike, or with a small boat that leaves twice per day. About 70 km away, is the Maremma Natural Park where, among the hilly stretches of Mediterranean scrub and the sea, you can admire many species of animals and take beautiful walks immersed in the sounds and scents of the Maremma.
The Etruscan necropolis of Vetulonia and the Archaeological Museum is about 40km away. Each year, in addition to the permanent exhibition, it hosts a temporary exhibit of Etruscan finds organized by the most famous museums and top scholars of the field. There are opportunities to actively participate in the new excavations together with professional archaeologists thanks to the “Archaeologist for a Day” initiative.
In the village of Massa Marittima, about 40km away, you can attend the opera music festival. In Gavorrano, about 28km away, the outdoor theater season takes place in the suggestive Teatro delle Rocce.
For wine lovers, Montalcino is definitely a place to visit–a magnificent area that has made the art of winemaking its trademark and pride, with the production of the sublime Brunello di Montalcino, a wine known and esteemed all over the world.
